God’s covenant promises are now a reality for those who have faith. On the other hand, believers still await the consummation of salvation history; in this sense we do “not yet” enjoy all that God has promised. Believers who have the gift of the Spirit still struggle with sin and await the day when their bodies will be resurrected (Rom 8:18–25). Salvation history, then, could represent the remodeling of the house since the new covenant fulfills what was promised in the old (Jer 31:31–34; 2 Cor 3:4–18).
